Update: Porch Fest VIII in Port Austin will soon be upon us!

As quickly as time flies, Porch Fest VIII in Port Austin will soon be upon us. What began in 2016 as an attempt to bring a little music into the city on a Saturday in June has become a much-anticipated event for both musicians and audiences alike. The musicians love the opportunity to play before appreciative audiences, the host families are proud to make their yards/porches available and comfortable for everyone, and the listeners make their way from site to site, with huge smiles on their faces reflecting the enjoyment they are feeling and sharing. Even gray and rainy weather on a few occasions has failed to dampen the enthusiasm and spirits of all participants. The event is always held on the fourth Saturday in June, which this year is June 24. Just a side note – in 2024 there are five Saturdays in June, so the date for Porch Fest IX will be June 22.

Once again, the music begins promptly at 1:00 pm, immediately following the sound of the horn ending Port Austin’s popular Farmers Market. Available at the Market that day but also at business establishments and on the streets several days before will be 6-page programs with pertinent information regarding who is playing where and when. Included in the program this year will be a middle page introducing all of the entertainers and describing the style of music each will provide. Once again, many of the Porch Fest musicians will be performing that weekend at local establishments on Friday and Saturday evenings, as well as on Sunday afternoon. Information regarding who, where, and when will also be available in the program. The wonderful Porch Fest posters created by Port Austin resident Tony Moceri have become more and more popular every year. This year’s poster will be available for $10.00, with a limited number of posters from preceding years still available at a reduced combination price. A picture of this year’s poster as well as commemorative koozies for 3.00 will be shown on this site as soon as they are ready.
