Porch Fest Loses a Friend
The Port Austin Porch Fest organizers are sad to report that one of its performers from Porch Fests VI and VII unexpectedly passed away last August. The group Mike Tremblay and Friends, from the Port Sanilac area, had already signed up for a third straight year of Porch Fest in 2023 before Mike, just 62 years old, was stricken by an abdominal aortic artery rupture which suddenly ended his life.
Recently retired from running the HVAC computer system at Selfridge AF Base, Mike was a guitar player for over 50 years, He wrote nearly all of the music he played and was in the process of recording his third professional CD, a project being completed by his widow, Nancy. Ironically, Nancy reports that the last song the two recorded together was entitled “Life’s Short Song.”
Mike’s submission form to play at Porch Fest VIII was dated June 13, 2022, nearly two weeks before Porch Fest VII took place. He wrote in his request, “I want to get the application in ASAP to make sure I have a spot for next year because it is a true pleasure to play there.” It was our true pleasure to have you there with us, Mike. Rest in Peace!
