John Kumjian

John Kumjian has been a professional performing musician for over 40 years. His work in guitar, percussion, bass, piano, and singing/songwriting can be found on over 30 local and regional CD releases. He has penned two of his own solo CD’s, including “To Be So Blue” (2005) and “Vulnerable” (2016). Currently, John plays guitar, percussion and keyboards with the New Third Coast, bass guitar with the Dune Brothers, and performs solo concerts throughout the region. John is also an active songwriter, a founding member of the L.A. North Songwriters Collective and an active participant in Northern Michigan Songwriters in the Round. He also continues his association with Lamb’s Songwriters Retreat in Harbor Springs each November.
John performs as a vocalist, guitarist and percussionist for the acclaimed Leelanau county folk trio “New Third Coast. John also spends a considerable amount of time as a songwriter, private teacher and local music consultant.
He earned both his Bachelors and Masters degrees in Music Education and Instructional Leadership from Northern Michigan University and is a retired Instrumental and General Music teacher after 28 years of teaching. He currently resides near Traverse City, Michigan.
