Picks & Sticks is a metro Detroit duo of extraordinary talent. Morgan & Sherry Humecki are well-known as frequent performers at Greenfield Village, the Dulcimer Festival in Evart, and the Huckleberry Railroad in Flint. Morgan is a "monster" on the banjo, guitar, and mandola, as well as being an accomplished vocalist and audience-engaging entertainer. Sherry is a virtuoso of the hammered dulcimer. She will amaze and delight with show-stoppers such as the William Tell Overture, Ghost Rider's in the Sky, and other highly skillful arrangements that few can accomplish on the dulcimer.
Matt Gabriel is a singer/songwriter who has spent over a decade writing and performing music around the country–the quality of folk and blues you would expect from an artist who grew up between Chicago and Detroit. The Bill Denbrock Big Band has been performing for big band music lovers for over 25 years. They perform annually for the Port Austin Art Fair and have had performance dates all around the thumb area as well as dates in farther away sites such as Mackinac Island, Bay City, Saginaw, port Sanilac, Sandusky, and Lapeer.
Bobby grew up playing all over Los Angeles performing everywhere from coffee houses to music festivals. Originally from California, Bobby moved to Harbor Beach Michigan almost ten years ago to start a family. Locally, Bobby has performed at the Maritime Festival, PAK'S Backyard, and number of other shows and festivals. In 2018, Trevor and Bobby joined up to create a sound of their own. Together they play covers and originals, including but not limited to Jim Croce, Fleetwood Mac, Smashing Pumpkins, and 80's to current pop radio.

The musical group Silverwood Bottom Boys will be performing a selection of old time gospel music and hymns Live on Stage at the Port Austin Farmers Market on Saturday, July 20, 2019. The group was formed when Freddie Wilbanks (guitar) and Bob Garner (mandolin) met at the old Buick Motor Division. They played beside the free flowing water spring north of Silverwood, Michigan, thereby adopting the group’s name. From there they were featured at the old Garner Barn, retirement parties, birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, and ice cream socials. The group has also appeared at the Clio Amphitheater, Lapeer Pix Theatre, Octogon Barn, Frankenmuth and Caro Farmers Markets, and churches throughout Michigan.

The acoustic collaboration of Shannon Allen, Larry Lemke and Jeff Taylor will perform a rich, soulful music mix spanning the genres of country, folk, soft rock and inspirational Christian. Dan Valeen is a virtuoso guitar player and an accomplished vocalist. He is conversant in jazz, rock & roll, blues, bluegrass & Dixieland, and has played with some of most talented entertainers in the Detroit area. We are delighted to have Dan travel to Port Austin and grace our stage with his talent and musicality.
The Thumb-based band “Ourselves” will be the featured performers Live on Stage at the Port Austin Farmers Market on Saturday, June 22, 2019. Ourselves consists of brothers Tom and Walt Schlichting, and Lynn Surbrook. Ourselves sings Irish ballads, Americana, songs of Michigan and the Great Lakes, sea shanties, and might even throw in a couple dance tunes or a little Hank Williams or Buddy Holly.
Enjoy Kid’s Day at the market and some fun entertainment by The Buggs. Raymond and Susan Bugg – a husband and wife duet from Harbor Beach, will be performing a sing-along format of patriotic, children, gospel and campfire favorites. Raymond plays guitar and sings and Susan sings and provides an atmosphere of joy with an assortment of costume and props. The duo describes their entertainment as Song, Trivia, and Fun! Audiences and bystanders are encouraged to sing along and answer trivia questions; you may also be persuaded to do “The Chicken Dance.”
The acoustic collaboration of Vickie Vader (Akron, MI) and Tom Krause (Caro, MI) will perform an eclectic mix of acoustic Celtic and light rock music. Vickie is a multi-instrumentalist, performing on the hammered dulcimer, bass guitar, penny whistle and more, and sings lead and harmonies. Tom is a virtuoso guitarist and gifted vocalist. Together they make memorable music you will truly enjoy.
Many know Matt Watroba as the voice of folk music in Michigan for his work with WDET–Detroit Public Radio. As producer and host of the “Folks Like Us” program, and the nationally syndicated, “Sing Out Radio Magazine” and “Folk Alley”, Watroba has come in contact with many aspects of folk music and culture. This has helped shape a repertoire and presentation that is unique on stages across the state and country. He is committed to inspiring the world to sing-- one town at a time. Matt brings a unique set of talents to the stage as an educator, performer and master of ceremonies.
Huron County country country-music group comprised of singer-guitarist Emerson Pilaske; his wife Irene on guitar and vocals; son Dennis on guitar and vocals; and grandson Sam on drums. Emerson and his band have been performing in the area for over 60 years, and have a loyal fan base.
