Rich and his Bluegrass Pals @ Port Austin Historical Society

The exciting sounds of bluegrass music can be found in the western Thumb area. Richard Wrobleski and Kenneth Walz of Sebewaing, along with Randall Howard of Owendale team up at Pt Austin Porch Fest to get your toes a-tappin’ and your hands a-clappin’ to some bluegrass classics. Selections will come from the likes of the Original Carter Family, Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs, and Bill Monroe. Also included will be some good old-time gospel numbers and some solid, traditional instrumentals.

Rich sings and plays guitar, mandolin, and resonator guitar (Dobro). Ken sings and plays the 5-string banjo, guitar and mandolin. Randy plays the acoustic bass. Rich and Ken serve up some duet harmonies that will stir your soul.

Rich taught for 32 years at Immanuel Lutheran School in Sebewaing before retiring in 1999, Ken is employed at Sebewaing Tool and Engineering. Randy is branch manager at Independent Bank in Sebewaing.  All three gentlemen are passionate about old-time
American string music, bluegrass in particular, and are thrilled at this opportunity to share it with others.  See them on the porch of the Pt Austin Historical Society building Saturday, June 25, from 2-5 pm. Come, enjoy the music and eat a delicious strawberry dessert……..  (add whatever you care to)
